Biography

After high school, I attended the University of California at Riverside where I majored in Physics. For the first few years of my undergraduate studies, I worked at The UPS Store so that I could partially pay my tuition and keep my student loan debt down. During my Junior year, I decided it was time to start applying the knowledge I was obtaining in the classroom to real-world problems and research. With this in mind, I joined Chun Ning (Jeanie) Lau’s research group. In this group I exfoliated and characterized various two-dimensional materials including graphene and MoS2. The characterization process included some spectroscopic techniques like Raman and Photoluminescence as well as direct techniques like Atomic Force Microscopy. After a year of exfoliation and characterization I learned nano-fabrication and started fabricating mesoscopic devices out of the exfoliated flakes.
